Description

This course is designed to enable the student to understand the role of a member of an industrial fire team for incipient firefighting and to demonstrate the practical aspects of incipient fire suppression. This course reflects the requirements outlined in the NFPA 1081, 2018 edition, Standard for Facility Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualifications. This standard, in part, identifies the minimum job performance requirements for incipient industrial fire team member.

Marine Institute approved medical clearance

To comply with Provincial OH&S legislation the OSSC requires all students participating in this course to be clean shaven and must provide a fit test certificate (quantitative) for use of Scott AV 3000 style face piece. Fit testing for this training can be completed at the OSSC. Please note that there is a fee associated for this service of $65 plus tax.

Please be advised that the OSSC daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.

If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
