Description

This course is designed to give the student training in the operation of dynamic positioning (DP)systems with emphasis on offshore loading at field types found on the Grand Banks. It will give the student an overview of the procedures to be followed to conduct a safe and efficient loading operation. Simulator exercises during the course will allow the student to carry out a variety of offshore loading DP operations as well as observe and develop responses to various emergency and failure situations.

Learning Outcomes

  • To enhance students' understanding of the operational aspects of a DP system when used onboard a shuttle tanker.
  • To allow students to review operational procedures for the safe conduct of offshore loading operations.
  • To enhance students' ability to operate a dynamic positioning system during routine and failure/emergency situations with respect to offshore loading operations.
