This course reviews the key elements of Bridge Resource Management (BRM) as they relate to ship operations and reinforces the need for ship bridge teams to maintain a high standard of safety when operating ships.

This  7 hour course is supported by a learning management system called BRIGHTSPACE (formally Desire2Learn or D2L). This web-based application will allow you to access all your course materials and communicate with your instructor and your classmates.

Learning Outcomes

  • To reinforce participant awareness of BRM as it applies to the safe and efficient operation of ships.
  • To help participants recall the factors affecting human performance in order to reduce the risk of accidents.
  • To remind participants that a team approach to bridge operations, taken in difficult or high risk situations, can help reduce the impact of human error on the safety of the ship.
  • To review participants awareness of BRM concepts and the use of Standard Operating Procedures.
