This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the stability and loading characteristics and stability management procedures for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs).

Learning Outcomes

  • To enable students to calculate and understanding basic static and dynamic stability for a ship or MODU.

Stability I(MODU) or Successful completion of either “Ship Stability for First Mate, Intermediate” (113) or “Ship Stability for First Mate, Local Voyage” (112)
