Description

This course is designed to give the student the skills and understanding to handle a shuttle tanker in DP mode. The candidate will use previously acquired knowledge on manual handling and basic DP together with updated advanced DP knowledge during training on Shuttle Tanker operational procedures. The course focuses on handling Shuttle Tankers in close proximity to offshore loading terminals, including Floating Production Storage and Off take units (FPSO’s/FSU’s), Offshore Loading Systems (OLS) and Single Anchor Loading (SAL).

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course the student should:

  • Have acquired a knowledge of unwanted shuttle tanker DP incidents.
  • Have gained a good understanding of a DP system's capabilities and limitations in offshore loading operations.
  • Be able to carry out contingency planning related to offshore loading operations.
  • Have acquired an understanding of offshore loading procedures for various field types.
  • Be able to properly use position reference systems for offshore loading operations.
  • Understand the requirements and guidelines that apply to Shuttle Tanker DPO's.
