Description

This course is designed as a refresher course for ships officers working on shuttle tankers. Along with learning from the experiences of colleagues, the student will achieve optimal skills and understanding on how to handle a shuttle tanker in DP mode. The course repeats elements from Offshore Loading Phase 2 course. The course
participants will also be introduced to any new developments within DP such as reference systems, software versions, new loading concepts, updated procedures, etc.

This course will also prepare DPOs holding DNV GL approved DP certificates (notation AJ/DPA-WV) to undertake the re-assessment component of the required 5 year re-certification process.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course the student should:
  • Have acquired a knowledge of the latest unwanted shuttle tanker DP incidents and statistics in Shuttle Tankers DP incidents.
  • Have gained an understanding of the proper use of procedures relating to different oil fields and the use of DP checklists.
  • Have been updated regarding the latest developments in offshore loading manuals and development of new oil fields.
  • Have been updated regarding he latest editions of competence requirements and guidelines.
  • Have gained an understanding of the latest developments in positions reference systems for DP
