Description

This course is intended for senior personnel (Master and experienced senior officers) engaged in escort tug operations in Placentia Bay that involve berthing and un berthing and at specific locations. The course will focus on scenarios that represent more challenging or emergency situations and will include experienced pilots and tanker masters familiar with the operation in Placentia Bay. The operations will be conducted using two full mission ship simulators with various realistic environmental conditions of winds, waves and currents.

Learning Outcomes

1.0 Apply escort tug practices to large tonnage tankers at speeds outside of normal operating conditions and speeds.
2.0 Undertake emergency towing applications in various weather and sea state conditions.
3.0 Steering and braking (direct/indirect) with laden tankers in varying failures (steering, blackout).
4.0 Escort operation in confined waters.
5.0 Simulated Exercises.
