Description

This course is suitable for marine engineering officers, electrical or electrotechnical officers, marine surveyors and marine superintendents. The training gives seafarers the essential education and training in high voltage (HV) installations to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements as set out in STCW Manila 2010 Tables A-III/2 and A-III/6 and is approved by the Transport Canada

Learning Outcomes

  • To improve the knowledge and safety of electro-technical officers and marine engineers working on vessels that employ high voltage systems
  • To meet the STCW requirements for high voltage training

Prerequisites

Students must meet one of the following conditions for admission to a HVS course:
• be enrolled in an EOET at the Operational Level or Management Level;
• be an experienced seafarer with at least 12 months sea service and have successfully completed the training course Electrotechnology and Automation Level 1; or
• Hold, at a minimum, a Third-class Engineer certificate of competency under the MPR 2007, or an Officer in charge of an engineering watch certificate of competency  under the MPR 2019.
